Dottie was our sweet rescue - we have no idea what kind of dog she was (we heard everything from Pit Bull to Pointer to Greyhound to Beagle), but she was definitely the kind of dog that brings joy! She came to us after we lost Zeke - Elaine’s Golden Retriever mix - to cancer at just three years old.

Dottie became Elaine’s constant companion from the day we brought her home, when she was 9 weeks old and just three months after losing Zeke, until the day we had to say goodbye (January 2026).

Dottie taught us how to raise a puppy, and Elaine worked with her consistently to build a repertoire of tricks! Dottie showed us that the more we worked with her and socialized her, the happier and better adjusted she would be! This is a foundational part of our breeding program today - handling and socializing our puppies from day one!

Unfortunately, Dottie suffered from some extreme digestive issues that worsened as she aged - which busted the myth that we had believed - that rescues are healthier than dogs from a breeder. We have a special place in our hearts for rescues, and we know that rescues can make amazing family dogs, but we want to continue what Dottie taught us in our breeding program - health and happiness are primary!
